ABOUT KIM MURRAY
COMMITMENT TO BEAUMONT
My name is Kim Murray and I am running to represent you as councillor in our beautiful city of Beaumont.
When we first moved here from New Brunswick, just over 12 years ago, my husband and I wanted to find the right place to raise our three children. As a born and raised Albertan, I missed my home province and dreamed of returning. We were looking for a community that would allow for opportunity and where my family would feel safe and welcome. We searched for a community where we could play and learn and grow together. We wanted to be close to amenities that the big city could offer, in a space that had a comfortable small town charm.
Beaumont has been that place for us.
I want to keep our city that special place where you know your neighbours and look out for them. The same place where children and families can play safely and explore our walking trails, parks and sports facilities. A city in which we support the local small business owners before the big retailers. A city where we can access all our needs within walking distance yet we still have the freedom and mobility to get into the big city in under 20 minutes.
In Beaumont, people feel connected, just as they did over a hundred years ago when this town was first created. Preserving this aspect of city life is paramount to me and the key to maintaining Beaumont’s unique charm and heritage. This is the key as well to uniting our local government to optimize future outcomes.
As councillor, I want to return to our roots and foundation. I intend to confront and challenge the increasing pressures to meld into just another suburb of the greater Edmonton area. We are so much more than that. A close focus on current growth strategies including small changes can make a big and lasting impact.
Working together for a better Beaumont.
Un Beaumont unifié est un Beaumont pour l'avenir.
A little more...
-massage therapist for 21 years
-started my own successful massage clinic and oversaw daily operations (HR, social media and advertising, training, and continued to provide massage services as well) leading to $250000 in sales in the first full year of operations.
-successfully represented myself in a civil claim
-wrote a petition statement and petitioned against Bill 10 (2020)
-managed to have opposition minister present petition to AB Legislature (2020)
-wrote a petition statement and petitioned BGSD (2022)
-collaborated in writing open letter to the GOA (2020)
It is, in part, my frustration at government leadership and federal and global interventions that leads me here. Our small city is just that, a small city. I plan to keep fighting for the values of our beautiful and unique city.
